AWS Certified Solutions Architect — Professional (SAP-C02)

Amazon Web Services (AWS)

About this practice test

The AWS Certified Solutions Architect — Professional (SAP-C02) is the most senior architecture credential AWS offers. Where the Associate exam (SAA-C03) tests workload-level design, the Professional tests enterprise-scale architecture — multi-account governance, hybrid and multi-region design, migration strategy, cost portfolio management, and long-running modernization programs.

This practice test gives you 250 scenario-style multiple-choice questions with detailed, multi-sentence explanations. Questions are deliberately Pro-level: long scenarios with realistic constraints, multiple plausible answers, and the right choice usually trades two valid options against a constraint you have to spot. The bank follows the latest SAP-C02 curriculum and matches the official exam-blueprint weighting.

What the SAP-C02 exam covers

  • Domain 1 — Design Solutions for Organizational Complexity (26%) — multi-account strategy with AWS Organizations and Service Control Policies, AWS Control Tower and Landing Zone, centralized identity (AWS IAM Identity Center, identity federation, permission boundaries, cross-account access patterns), enterprise networking with Transit Gateway and Direct Connect, hybrid connectivity (AWS Site-to-Site VPN, Direct Connect with multiple VIFs, Cloud WAN, Network Manager), centralized logging and security (CloudTrail across the Organization, GuardDuty, Security Hub, Macie, AWS Config aggregator), cost-allocation tagging strategy, multi-Region governance.
  • Domain 2 — Design for New Solutions (29%) — choosing among compute options (EC2 families, ECS / EKS / Fargate, Lambda, App Runner), storage architecture (S3 storage classes, EBS volume types, EFS, FSx flavors, Storage Gateway), database architecture (RDS, Aurora, DynamoDB, Redshift, Neptune, Timestream, ElastiCache, DocumentDB), networking and content delivery (CloudFront, Route 53 routing policies, Global Accelerator, AWS WAF, AWS Shield Advanced), security (KMS, CloudHSM, Secrets Manager, Cognito, ACM), serverless and event-driven patterns (Lambda, Step Functions, EventBridge, SQS, SNS, API Gateway), analytics (Athena, EMR, Glue, Kinesis, MSK), and machine learning at scale (SageMaker).
  • Domain 3 — Continuous Improvement for Existing Solutions (25%) — cost optimization (Savings Plans portfolio strategy, Reserved Instances, Compute Optimizer, Cost Explorer recommendations, S3 Storage Lens, Trusted Advisor), performance optimization (caching with CloudFront / ElastiCache / DAX, autoscaling patterns, network optimization), reliability improvements (Multi-AZ vs Multi-Region designs, Aurora Global Database, DynamoDB Global Tables, AWS Backup, disaster-recovery strategies — backup-restore, pilot light, warm standby, multi-site active-active), security improvements (KMS key rotation, MFA enforcement, GuardDuty, Inspector, Config rules, Secrets Manager rotation), operational excellence (CloudWatch, X-Ray, Systems Manager, CloudFormation drift), monitoring and observability at scale.
  • Domain 4 — Accelerate Workload Migration and Modernization (20%) — the 7 R's (rehost, replatform, repurchase, refactor, retain, retire, relocate), migration tooling (AWS Application Migration Service / MGN, Database Migration Service / DMS, DataSync, Storage Gateway, AWS Snow Family, AWS Transfer Family, Mainframe Modernization), application modernization (containers, serverless, microservices, App2Container, Refactor Spaces), database modernization (PostgreSQL on Aurora, Babelfish, Oracle to Aurora PostgreSQL), VMware Cloud on AWS and AWS Outposts for hybrid, data-center exit strategy, and the AWS Migration Hub for orchestration.

Exam format on AWS

The live SAP-C02 has 75 questions to be completed in 180 minutes (3 hours), with a passing scaled score of around 750 / 1000 (~75%). Questions are long, multiple-choice and multiple-response, almost entirely scenario-based. The exam is available in English, Japanese, Korean, Simplified Chinese, and several other languages, in both online-proctored and test-center modalities. Recertification is required every 3 years.

Who should take this?

Working solutions architects, cloud architects, DevOps engineers, technical leads, and platform engineers with at least 2 years of hands-on AWS architecture experience. AWS recommends completing the AWS Certified Solutions Architect — Associate (SAA-C03) first; while not strictly required, the Pro exam assumes Associate-level familiarity across the entire service catalog. Many candidates also pair SAP-C02 with the DevOps Engineer Professional (DOP-C02) and one or two Specialty exams (Security, Networking, Database, Machine Learning).
