Google Cloud Associate Cloud Engineer (ACE)

Google Cloud (GCP)

The Google Cloud Associate Cloud Engineer (ACE) is Google's foundational hands-on certification for cloud engineers. It validates your ability to deploy, monitor, secure, and maintain solutions on Google Cloud — provisioning resources, configuring identity and networking, deploying applications to Compute Engine, GKE, App Engine, and Cloud Run, and operating them in production.

This practice test gives you 250 scenario-style multiple-choice questions with rich, multi-sentence explanations on every answer. Topic distribution follows the official ACE exam guide so the balance of material you study here matches what you'll see on test day.

What the ACE exam covers

  • Setting up a cloud solution environment (~18%) — projects, billing accounts, billing reports, cloud-shell, gcloud / gsutil / kubectl / bq CLI tooling, enabling and disabling Google Cloud APIs, the Cloud Console.
  • Planning and configuring a cloud solution (~17%) — planning compute resources (machine families, GPU choices), planning data storage (Cloud Storage classes, Cloud SQL vs Spanner vs Bigtable vs Firestore), planning network resources (VPC design, addressing, subnets, load balancers), and using the Pricing Calculator and Total Cost of Ownership tools.
  • Deploying and implementing a cloud solution (~27%) — Compute Engine VMs (instance templates, MIGs, autoscaling, OS Login, snapshots, custom images), Google Kubernetes Engine (Standard vs Autopilot, node pools, workloads, services, kubectl basics), App Engine (Standard vs Flexible), Cloud Run, Cloud Functions, Cloud SQL / Spanner / Bigtable / Firestore deployment, Cloud Storage (buckets, ACLs, lifecycle, signed URLs), data import / export (Storage Transfer Service, BigQuery), Pub/Sub, networking (VPCs, peering, Cloud VPN, Cloud Interconnect, Cloud DNS, Cloud Load Balancing, Cloud CDN).
  • Ensuring successful operation of a cloud solution (~19%) — Cloud Monitoring (metrics, alerts, dashboards), Cloud Logging (sinks, log routers), Cloud Trace, Cloud Profiler, Error Reporting, monitoring Compute Engine VMs and managed services, backup and disaster recovery patterns (snapshots, Cloud Storage replication, regional / multi-regional deployments), and incident response.
  • Configuring access and security (~19%) — Cloud IAM (predefined and custom roles, principals, service accounts, Workload Identity Federation), the resource hierarchy (Organization → Folders → Projects → Resources), Organization Policy Service, Cloud KMS, Cloud Audit Logs (Admin Activity, Data Access, Policy Denied), Access Transparency, VPC Service Controls, viewing and managing audit data.

Exam format on Google

The live ACE exam has 50–60 multiple-choice and multiple-select questions, completed in 2 hours. Google does not publish a passing score; results are reported as pass / fail. Recertification is required every 3 years. Our 250-question bank covers the same syllabus with substantially more depth so you encounter every concept multiple ways before exam day.

Who should take this?

Working cloud engineers, DevOps practitioners, SREs, and system administrators with 6+ months of hands-on Google Cloud experience. Google recommends ACE as the foundation before pursuing Professional certifications (Cloud Architect, Cloud Developer, Cloud DevOps Engineer, Data Engineer, Network Engineer, Security Engineer, Database Engineer, Machine Learning Engineer, Cloud Digital Leader is the non-engineering counterpart).
